How To Help: Volunteer

Family Promise of Sussex County is always looking for dedicated volunteers. If you enjoy spending time with others and sharing your talents, then we have a place for you at within our organization.

Local Hosting churches are in need of volunteers to:  (Click here to download the Volunteer Application Form. Please mail to P.O. Box 154 Newton NJ 07860)

• Prepare meals for our families
• Spend time with our families
• Play games with the children
• Teach a skill to families
• Sleep overnight at the hosting church
• Mentor a child/parent/family

Day Center:

• Answer phones
• Inventory donations
• Housekeeping
• Paperwork
• Transportation for our families

Special Events and Fundraising:

Volunteers are critical to the success of our special events. Help is often needed with our annual Auction Committee and Box City Event. We are currently in the planning stages for both of these events.

Family Mentoring: In the Family Mentoring program, economically vulnerable families are matched with trained volunteer mentors who work with them, one-on-one, over an extended period. Mentors help individual families define and meet goals to:

• develop life skills
• connect with community resources
• improve their housing and employment situations
• nurture and support their children
